History at St Silas Primary School
Our vision of History at St Silas is to deliver a curriculum that develops a coherent knowledge and understanding of Britain’s past and that of the wider world.
Within each academic year, the children will study two History topics where they will learn about events in British and world-wide history that have shaped the world we live in today. They will begin to ask questions as they explore the diversity of human experiences, past lives and societies as well as develop research skills by using a range of primary and secondary sources.
History lessons will develop the children’s questioning skills, critical thinking skills and curiosity with an emphasis on chronological understanding. The learning the children carry out in their History lessons will be linked to non-fiction writing in English.
