Geography at St Silas Primary School
Our vision for Geography at St Silas is to deliver a curriculum that inspires in children the curiosity to explore, discover and understand the world around them.
Within each academic year, the children will study two Geography topics where they will learn about their own locality and community as well as a range of other places, people, cultures and environments. They will use maps to locate cities, countries, continents, seas and oceans as well as study atlases, photos and the internet to explore the environments and economics of the countries they study.
Children will develop their skills and knowledge with an emphasis on the core geographical skills of fieldwork and mapping, as well as link their learning to non-fiction writing in English where they will use subject-specific vocabulary learned during their topic.
