Early Years

Little Movers and Shakers

Every Thursday, at St Silas, families with children under five are welcome to come along to our Little Movers session 10.45am-11.30am, ran by Leanne from Granby Children’s Centre.  This is a great opportunity for your baby or child to take part in a physical development activity each week.  Please tell your family and friends as anyone under 5 can join in the fun!

30 Hour Funding

The current government is introducing an extension to the existing nursery entitlement for all 3 – 4 year olds from September 2017 in order to support and help Parents/ Carers return to work. The government’s plan is to increase access to entitlement from 15 hours per week to 30 hours per week for children who fall into a certain eligibility criteria.  If eligible, you’re entitled to an extra 570 hours of free childcare a year to use flexibly, so 1140 hours in total.

You, and any partner, must each expect to earn (on average) at least £120 a week (equal to 16 hours at the National Minimum or Living Wage). If you, or your partner, are on maternity, paternity or adoption leave, or you’re unable to work because you are disabled or have caring responsibilities, you could still be eligible.

Find out if you’re eligible by following this link to access the childcare calculator:
